UAE Allows 5 Categories Of Visa Holders To Work After Expiration

As revealed by the UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Naturalization, Customs and Port Security, golden visa holders and their families, green visa holders and their families, as well as widows and divorced women of foreigners residing in the UAE, are included in the categories.

Expanded Stay For Visa Holders

Under the updated visa system known as ICP (Identity, Citizenship, and Port Security), the Federal Authority for Identity, Naturalization, Customs, and Port Security in the UAE has delineated five specific categories of visa holders eligible for an extended stay of up to 6 months post-visa expiration.

Eligible Categories

  • Golden Visa Holders and Family Members: This category encompasses individuals holding golden visas, along with their accompanying family members, offering them the opportunity to remain in the UAE beyond their visa validity period.
  • Green Visa Holders and Family Members: Similarly, holders of green visas, alongside their families, are granted the privilege of an extended stay, facilitating their continued presence in the Emirati territories.
  • Widows or Divorced Women of UAE Residents: Recognizing the unique circumstances of widows or divorced women of foreign residents in the UAE, this category extends the opportunity for them to maintain their residency status.
  • Foreign Students and Sponsored Individuals: Students who have completed their studies in the UAE, as well as individuals sponsored by universities or colleges within the country, are eligible for an extended stay, enabling them to explore employment opportunities or pursue further endeavors.
  • Skilled Professionals: Residents possessing skills classified under the first and second levels by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation are also included in this provision, allowing them to continue contributing to the UAE’s workforce.

Additional Provisions and Duration

In addition to the aforementioned categories, the comparison program introduced by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, and Port Security extends a 3-month extension to residents with skills categorized at the third level, along with property owners holding guarantees on UAE properties.

Furthermore, the amendment increases the stay period for visa holders with sponsors or hosts from 30 to 60 days. This group encompasses residents, domestic workers, family members, and other sponsored visa holders.

The UAE’s decision to grant extended stay privileges to certain visa holders underscores its commitment to fostering a welcoming and accommodating environment for expatriates. By providing opportunities for continued residence and employment, the UAE not only enhances its appeal as a destination for global talent but also demonstrates its dedication to supporting diverse communities within its borders. Expatriates are encouraged to explore the new provisions and take advantage of the benefits through accessible channels provided by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, and Port Security.
